Equal Opportunity Cell

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of the college has been established with a view to empower the ST, SC, OBC, students from north east and students with disabilities and to give them equal opportunities in higher education. The cell disseminates information regarding the various welfare schemes related to such students and also provides facilities and assistance through counselling and remedial classes.

India is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Article 9 of UNCRPD casts an obligation on all the signatory governments to take appropriate measures to ensure to persons with disabilities access, on an equal basis with others to the physical environment.

It is a vision of the Government to have an inclusive society, in which equal opportunities and access is provided for the growth and development of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to lead productive, safe and dignified life. Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 categorically provides for non-discrimination in built environment.

Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) was launched by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, 3rd December 2015 as a nation- wide program for achieving universal accessibility for Persons with Disabilities.

In accordance with above it got ramps in all its buildings including academic block, administrative block and hostel. Wheel chairs and accessible toilets too have been provided all over the buildings. Lifts have been provided in academic block and PWD has been requested to explore the possibility of providing lifts in hostel and administrative block for barrier free environment to auditorium and library.
