It is a vision of the Government to have an inclusive society, in which equal opportunities and access is provided for the growth and development of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to lead productive, safe and dignified life. Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 categorically provides for non-discrimination in built environment.
Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) was launched by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, 3rd December 2015 as a nation- wide program for achieving universal accessibility for Persons with Disabilities.
In compliance with the above, EOC has been functional for quite long. It shifted to new building in 2012 and all efforts were made to make it disabled friendly. In accordance with above it got ramps in all its buildings including academic block, administrative block and hostel. Wheel chairs and accessible toilets too have been provided all over the buildings. Lifts have been provided in academic block and PWD has been requested to explore the possibility of providing lifts in hostel and administrative block for barrier free environment to auditorium and library. In addition, the library of the College has computers with assistive software for visually impaired students.
