The Department of Biomedical Science organized DBT sponsored second National Conference on “Understanding the Mechanism and Challenges of Complex diseases (UMCCD-2017)” on 24th to 25th January, 2017. Prof. Dr. Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, Vice Chancellor Jamia Hamdard University inaugurated the conference and delivered an insightful talk into the notorious bacterium M.Tb and its evading mechanisms. Dr. Suman Govil, Advisor DBT was guest of honour and graced the occasion with her presence. She has given a brief overview about the DBT Star College scheme and motivated students for taking up small research projects. Prominent Scientists like Prof. Kanury V. S. Rao, Director THSTI, Prof. Chinmay S. Mukhopadhyay, Special Center for Molecular Medicine, JNU, Dr. Anurag Agrawal, Scientist CSIR, IGIB, Dr. Devesh Bhardwaj, Associate Vice President, Mankind Research many more were the speakers for this conference. This was a well-attended mega event with delegates from different Colleges of University of Delhi, Delhi Technological University, Amity University, West Bengal University, Dayal bagh University, Agra and other renowned Institutes and Universities of the country.

Second National Conference on Recent Trends in Electronics and Instrumentation (RTIE-2016)

The Department of Electronics along with the Department of Instrumentation organized two days National Conference entitled Trends in Electronics and Instrumentation (RTIE-2016) on 5-6th October, 2016.The conference was sponsored by UGC and supported by IEEE-EDS, DBT star college scheme and Tipz In. The conference started with felicitation of chief guest Prof. Jagdeesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of JNU by the Principal Dr. Payal Mago. The inaugural session was attended by various eminent guests like Prof Enakshi K. Sharma, Prof. Mridula Gupta, Prof P.K.Bhatnagar, Prof. Sneh Anand, Dr. Amod Kumar, Chairperson of governing body Mrs. Richa Pandey Mishra and the treasurer of governing body Mr. F.I. Ismailee. Prof M. Jagdeesh enlightened the students by his speech on the responsibilities of our young generation towards the society. The session was concluded by the plenary talk by Dr. Amod Kumar, Chief Scientist CSIO, Chandigarh, on Instrumentation for healthcare sector. The conference was attended by various undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars and faculty members from Delhi, NCR. In all, five technical sessions were held. The speakers covered different areas in Electronics and instrumentation fields like Information and communication Technology and Internet of things, Industrial Automation and VLSI, Energy efficient systems, Analytical Instrumentation, sensors and actuators, Bio MEMS and Data Encryption Techniques, etc. During oral presentations, the participants shared their research work with the gatherings. The conference ended with the valedictory function graced by Prof. R.K. Khandal, President, IGL Noida and Prof. Enakshi K. Sharma, Head, Dept. of Electronic Science, University of Delhi, South Campus.

First National Conference on Advances in Food Science and Technology (NCAFST)

The Department of Food Technology organized first conference on Advances in Food Science and Technology on 16-17 March, 2016. The conference was sponsored by University Grants Commission and Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. It provided a common platform to research scholars, academicians, industry professionals and students to share new innovations, research findings, recent trends and developments in the area of Food science, Nutrition, Safety, Food Regulatory affairs etc. The conference saw participation of more than 200 people over two days. The conference began with a formal inaugural session. Dr. K.M. Chacko, Director, Sri Ram Institute of Industrial Research was the guest of honour. Other guests included Dr. S. Lakshmi Devi, Former and Founder Principal of the college, Mr. K.L.Radhakrishnan, Former Secretary and Chief Editor, All India Food Processors’ Association and Ms. Richa Pandey Mishra, Chairperson, Governing Body. The guests were welcomed by Principal and Conference Patron, Dr. Payal Mago. Dr. K.M.Chacko gave the inaugural address. The technical sessions saw various speakers and technical chairs. These included Dr. T.S.R.Murali, Head, R&D, Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, Mr. Neeraj Sharma, Consultant, Food and Agribusiness Dr. Anupa Siddhu, Director, Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi, Dr. Hari Prakash, Joint Director, Quality Council of India, Dr. S.P.Garg, Former Head, CFTRI lab, Kolkata, Ms. Manasi ShuklaTrivedi, Former Food Technology officer, UN World Food Programme, Dr. Alok Shah, Member Secretary, LSRB, DRDO,Mr. Indranil Chaterjee, Sales Director, South Asia, Dupont and Ms. Seema Shukla, Assistant Director, Export Inspection Council of India and Dr. M.K.Salooja, Head, Dairy Technology, School of Agriculture, IGNOU. There were about 50 poster presentations and more than 35 papers were published in the conference proceedings. Some of the selected papers were also presented in the conference.

First National Conference on Advancements in Electronics and Computer Applications (NCAECA)

The Department of Electronics along with the Department of Computer Science had successfully organized the first National Conference on "Advancements in Electronics and Computer Applications (NCAECA)" on 4-5th Feb 2016. The conference was supported by UGC and DEITY. The Conference was inaugurated by Professor Mushahid Husain (VC, M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly). He also delivered the Keynote address on Nanotechnology. The special invitees included Dr. Sunil kumar Muttoo, Head, Department of Computer Science (University of Delhi), Prof. Avinashi Kapoor, Department of Electronic Science (University of Delhi) and Dr. S. Lakshmi Devi, Founder Principal. Invited talks were delivered by eminent academician and industry professionals in diverse domains of Electronics and Information Technology. There were 4 technical sessions for paper and oral presentations and more than 150 participants attended it. There also was a special track on Digital India by Mr. Akhilur Rehman Senior Consultant, Department of Electronics & IT (Deity) and who apprise the audience about the various components of Digital India Programme initiated by the Govt. of India.

The conference was supported by IEEE EDS, Delhi Chapter. It was co-sponsored by UGC, DBT Star College Scheme, and Agmatel. It was inaugurated by Guest of Honour, Prof. S. S. Aggarwal, Director General, KIIT Group of Colleges. Invited talks were delivered by eminent academicians and people from various industries.

The Department of Biomedical Sciences organized a national Conference on “Understanding the Mechanism and Challenges of Complex Diseases” (UMCCD 2014) on 29th and 30th December 2014.The conference was sponsored by DBT star college grant. Prominent Scientists and well-known physicians like Dr. Anoop Misra, Chairman, Fortis, Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin, Director, ILBS, Dr. Tara Devi S. Ashok, Senior Faculty, University of Massachusetts, Boston USA were the speakers for this conference. It was a well-attended mega event with delegates from over 140 Colleges of University of Delhi, AIIMS, MAMC, UCMS, IGIB, INMAS, and other renowned Institutes and Universities of the country.
